Our last pool games have been completed, and our semifinal field is set. The St John Fisher Cardinals will battle Fairfield and the South Carolina Gamecocks will take on Columbia University. Many players have shined through the first three days, but these three take the cake:
AAU’s top scorer carried the momentum from his incredible season into pool play, where he diced his way through all three of Columbia’s opponents. To continue his torrent pace, Avezov had games of three, five, and four points.
Despite App State’s early elimination, Jason Beck carried his team to three competitive efforts in Pool B. Beck leads Division 3 in goal scoring at the AAU Nationals, collecting a hat trick in App State’s 8-6 loss to Columbia.
The MVP of the College Hockey South playoffs has been the backbone of South Carolina through three games at the AAU Nationals. Durdov kicked off the week with a 28-save shutout in the ‘Cock’s 1-0 OT win against Fairfield and has picked up wins against Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina as well.
