It began with two goals from Kevin Manzi and Joseph Castellano, separated by just five(!) seconds. Nick Lavoie finished off the Farmingdale goal spree with his second of the game, establishing an all-important three-goal lead for the Rams.

SUNY Brockport Clubbers vs Mass. Maritime Academy Buccaneers
In the first matchup of the tournament for Pool B, nine goals were scored between the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers Buccaneers and the SUNY-Brockport Golden Eagles.
The Buccaneers built an early lead, scoring the first goals of the game, Jack Dickie and Constantino Marrocco lighting the lamp. Bishop’s University Gaiters vs FAU Owls
The two-seed Bishop’s University Gaiters, the only Canadian team in the tournament, took to the ice tonight against the 20th-seed FAU Owls. The Owls were a late fill-in spot after the University of Richmond canceled. After a strong year in Division Three, the Owls will move up to Division Two next season.
Bishop’s University opened the scoring early after an offensive onslaught, tallying 10 shots through the first eight minutes. Frédéric Grenon scored the goal, taking advantage of some excellent passes from Nico Deichmann and Alex Budd.
The Gaiters came out of the gates hot in the second period, continuing the red-hot offense seen in the first. Strong forechecking set up a goal for Marc-Antoine Lagacé on a rebound off of FAU goalie Matthew McMillin, giving the Gaiters a two-goal lead. Lucas Thorne, who led Bishop’s University, helped build a three-goal lead as he set up Nathan Gagnon.
Florida Atlantic opened the third period on the powerplay, and Peter Petito took advantage, firing a shot from the slot, scoring the first goal for the Owls off a pass from Anthony Campagna. The Gaiters would answer again, with Jack McGowan finding Ryan Gudernatsch for a backhanded goal. Unfortunately, the Owls couldn’t get any more offensive production as they fell 4-1. Matthew McMillin made big saves throughout the game, but the Gaiter’s constant pressure was the difference.

Tampa Spartans vs Niagara Purple Eagles
In what resembled more of a knock-down, drag-out brawl, the Tampa Spartans outlasted the Niagara Purple Eagles 4-0.
Pool E features the two teams with the most penalty minutes on the season, South Florida and Tampa, and the first matchup certainly looked like it. The Spartans and Purps combined for 60 minutes in the sin bin in an incredibly physical matchup.
Oh, and they played hockey, too. In that hockey game, Tampa smothered Niagara defensively, allowing seven shots or fewer in each period. The Spartans tallied once in the first and thrice in the third to earn a commanding 4-0 win in the Pool E opener.

South Florida Bulls vs Paul Smith’s College Bobcats
The top seed in Pool E had their hands full with Paul Smith’s College, who wouldn’t give in to the Bull’s onslaught.
South Florida took leads of 1-0, 2-1, and 6-2, but the Bobcats kept crawling back each time. Even after South Florida extended their advantage to 6-2 with 13 minutes to go, PSC cut the deficit in half to jeopardize the game for the favored Bulls. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, four goals was too much to overcome.
College Hockey South MVP Grant Dietz led all skaters with three points, scoring two goals and picking up an assist.
